KAAGNY president Yong Hwa Ha, vice-presidents Kwang Soo Kim, Suk Chan Lee, and Dae Hyun Yoo, attended the Global Korean Association Convention held in Seoul, Korea on June 21. Amongst several large issues discussed were the details for absentee ballot voting for elections in Korea for those who lived abroad but were still Korean citizens with Korean passports.
Members of KAAGNY extended their trip until July 4 meeting with City of Seoul officials. From these meetings KAAGNY was able to secure a support from Seoul in the upcoming Korean Day Parade on early October. Officials from Seoul pledged Korean Heritage costumes worth over 19 million Won. KAAGNY has now become the new custodians of these various uniforms and traditional dresses. We anticipate we will utilize these traditional dresses for years to come in all our future events. It will provide the ways and means for us to show other New Yorkers the beauty of traditional Korean uniforms and dresses.
It is not fair to just keep this to ourselves the beauty of “Han Bok”. Sharing makes friends as the old saying goes. KAAGNY is so grateful the City of Seoul has decided to share with us this beautiful treasure. We in turn will pledge that we will share their beauty with other New Yorkers by wearing them in all appropriate future events to come. KAAGNY also met with officials from city of Daejun, as well as other regional cities. In them KAAGNY offered services that officials from these regional cities can utilize when they visit New York, and or if they wanted to promote business or relationship with New York and U.S. Northeast. KAAGNY recognizes it could be a valuable liaison when it comes to making arrangements in here New York. KAAGNY is a rich source of networking not only with the Korean American community of Greater New York, but also with the local New York City and NY state officials and agencies. We have within our means through our building in Manhattan the necessary space they may utilize for their meetings, seminars, translation, and scheduling services.
KAAGNY going forward will put together detailed plans to make this service a complete one-stop center for any Korean associations or business who wants to do business with New York.
