For second year in a row, KAAGNY carried out its Summer SAT Preparation Class in our Manhattan building. KAAGNY bore the most of the cost for the program and once again there was a strong responds from our community. The unforgiving recession which has gripped our region has made such SAT preparatory class financially out of reach for many students and their families this year. KAAGNY wanted to reach out to those talented but needy students. This 6 weeks program was staffed by talented New York City teachers of Korean descent who volunteered their time and knowledge for such a noble cause.
On July 20, this program commenced for 6 weeks, from Monday thru Thursday for 5 hours. The volunteer teachers from New York City Charter Schools and their eager students made new friendship which will last their lifetime. What is more important than the investment in our second generation? Although we could not help all those who applied this year, we rededicated ourselves to increase our funding for this program next year so we could accept more needy students. KAAGNY is very grateful to the volunteer teachers who gave up their summer for such a worthy cause. Their dedication to our Korean American community is exemplary and they have demonstrated the noble calling that said “virtue is its own reward.”
